Shawn Corey Carter, known professionally as Jay-Z, is an American rapper, songwriter, producer, entrepreneur, and record executive. Doesn't have the individual standout album to rival Ready to Die, Illmatic, 36 Chambers, or Things Fall Apart. Jay-Z is at the top of the hip-hop heap because of his vast quantity of work. He has three standout albums (Black, Reasonable Doubt and Blueprint) and has shown better than any other the ability to remain cutting edge and relevant. His flow is smooth, but his delivery can be lazy. His lyrics are biting, and his production strong. Jay-Z can be bested on an individual album, but his total body of work is phenomenal.
